Easiest Yogurt Maker Ever! Feb 16, 2010 For my first attempt, I used cold whole organic milk and 3 TBSP of Brown Cow Greek yogurt. Twelve hours later I just had milk - not thickened at all. Turned out not to be enough starter. Following the lead of my fellow reviewers (which I obviously should have done to begin with), I tried again with 1/4 cup of Stoneyfield plain yogurt, cold whole organic milk and 1/4 cup nonfat dry milk. I first put in just a small amt of milk with the starter and dry milk, mixed it thoroughly, filled it up with more milk, shook it vigorously, capped it and put it in the boiling water sleeve. 6 hours later it was perfect. The easiest method of yogurt making ever! I had a Salton electric unit for years but seldom worked up the enthusiasm for heating and cooling milk to just the right temp, then heating jars. This is 100% better.
I also want to try EasiYo's sachets but was a bit taken aback at the price. I noticed that several reviewers said they were economical. At $15 for 1 quart of yoghurt? I kept thinking that surely the packet would make more than one batch but the description clearly states that it will make ONE quart of yogurt. Am I missing something here?
It's not Rocket Science Feb 01, 2010 I just started to make my own yogurt and always questioned the need for heat/cooling the milk, but didn't want anything to mess with those precious probiotics. I have a new electric yogurt maker, (Salton, jug type) that works OK, but wanted to get off the oil barrel. This easiyo is so easy, and thanks to others, I just fill the jar 1/2 full of my Organic, whole DHA milk, add 1/4 cup of previous batch yogurt, fill with milk to top, shake and then plop it into the Thermal container filled to the top of the red shelf with boiling water, cap it, wait 6 - 8 hours and harvest marvelous yogurt. LOVE this!!
One of the Best Purchased I have ever Made!! Jan 12, 2010 Dannon has stopped to make the all natural LOW fat yogurt and I cannot eat yogurt of other brands because what they put in the yogurt . I decided to make my own yogurt. I did some research online on how to make yogurt and tried making yogurt a few times without using a yogurt maker. I did successfully make some fresh yogurt, but it took so much my time to watch the pot (I put the yogurt in a pot on the stove) to make sure the temperature was right. I decided to buy a yogurt maker at Amazon.
When I saw the comments made about the Easiyo Yogurt Maker, I decided to try this one. I have used this Easiyo Yogurt Maker for about 2 months by now. I absolutely love it!! It is so easy to use. I used both boiled milk, heated milk or cold milk, all of them were successful. It does use any electricity and I do not have to watch the pot. The money I saved for making my fresh yogurt, and the time I saved for not having to watching it when the yogurt in the making is worth much more than the $25.00 I spent for the Easiyo Yogurt Maker. What a GREAT deal!!
I also love to shop at Amazon. I have bought a big TV, a DVD player, a watch, a camera, skin care products, books and many other products. Amazon always delivered my products on time. Most times, my purchases arrived earlier. Last week, Amazon sent me two messages to apologize, informing me that two of my purchases would be late. However, the products arrived on the exact day they should arrive; only they were delivered after 7:00 pm.
Amazon has such a good service. No wonder everyone makes purchases at Amazon. It is trustworthy.
perfect Dec 25, 2009 Without sophistical technique, this yogurt maker is simply a thermo mug. It might not be worth the price, but it is really easy to handle and perfect to make yogurt.
Just buy a official yogurt culture from them to make the first yogurt. Then keep a small amount everytime, simply add cold milk, to start a new jar of yogurt. Follow the 3 steps, but yogurt culture is no longer necessary.
May do it before you sleep in the evenings regularly:
1. Blend some yogurt with cold milk into the jar;
2. Add hot water to the outside bottle;
3. put two bottles together and go to sleep;
in the morning you get the fresh yogurt. :)
Enjoy, I love it.
Simple, effective and can be used with non-easiyo starter Nov 29, 2009 I just made some delicious home-made yogurt with the Easiyo using store bought yogurt as a starter and it turned out great. I used 250 ml of yogurt (mostly because I wasn't sure how much of the culture was still alive), filled the rest of the container with 750 ml of cold milk, put boiling water in the maker, put the container with milk and yogurt starter in and sealed the maker. That was about 7 pm last night, in the morning I woke up to a full batch (1 kg/ liter) of semi-firm delicious yogurt. A little thicker than drinking yogurt, but less firm than most store bought. I think it would be firmer with added powdered milk or another dose of hot water and a few more hours to set. Take care not to heat the yogurt too much and kill all the bacteria. Start by using cold milk and yogurt and the temperature will reach an ideal range and keep it there as it slowly takes heat from the hot water. This is honestly some of the best yogurt I've ever tasted and certainly filled with healthy pro-biotic bacteria. And a very clever and efficient way to make it using this device.
I like this product because it's simple and elegant. Much less prep time than other yogurt makers and with no electricity, depending on how you heat the water. You don't have to worry about timing it too much either. The temperature cools over time which insures a wider range of beneficial bacteria. And I calculated that with as much yogurt as my wife and I eat per month we save about $70 per month making our own at home, and it tastes better, is much healthier, and creates less waste than buying from a store.
